What is a Facial?

A facial is one of the best ways to take care of your skin, especially when it’s given by an experienced aesthetician. Routine facials are meant to deep clean, exfoliate, hydrate, and correct the skin. Your aesthetician will perform a skin analysis to determine what type of facial will best treat your skin conditions. Monthly facials can help clear up acne and even eliminate fine lines and wrinkles when combined with home skin care maintenance.

What is an Aesthetician?

A professional facial should be given by a licensed aesthetician with special training in skin care. All aestheticians must be trained and licensed in the state that they are working in. They complete 600 plus hours of training and pass both a written and a practical or hands-on exam.

The Basic Steps of a Facial

  • Consultation: The aesthetician will ask questions about your skin concerns, your diet, how much water you drink, drugs and supplements you take, and products you use. All of these components will affect your skin and what kind of treatment is recommended.
  • Cleansing: After wrapping your hair with a towel or headband, the esthetician begins the facial with a thorough cleansing, using cotton pads, aesthetician wipes or sponges.
  • Skin Analysis: The aesthetician covers your eyes and looks at your skin through a brightly lit magnifying lamp. He or she is determining your basic skin type (dry, oily, combination, sensitive or normal) and skin conditions. Appropriate products and treatments will then be chosen by then esthetician.
  • Steam: Most facials use a machine that directs a thin vapor of warm steam onto your face. This is for relaxation and to soften up any blackheads and whiteheads to be extracted.
  • Exfoliation: Mechanical exfoliates have a gritty texture that rubs away the surface dead skin cells. Chemical exfoliation uses enzymes and acids to loosen the bond between skin skills. Stronger chemical peels, which vary in intensity, can be stand-alone treatment or part of the facial.
  • Facial Massage: Facial massages, if appropriate, are performed using classic strokes like effleurage to both relax and stimulate your skin and facial muscles.
  • Facial Mask: Facial masks are created based on your skin type. During the facial, the aesthetician should stay in the room and give you a scalp massage or some other service.

Veronica is the best!!! She is so sweet, very knowledgeable, and helped me feel comfortable throughout the entire Botox and filler process. My results are everything I was looking for! Thanks for my confidence boost! I’ll definitely be back.

First time here & I will definitely be back! Allison did my Botox. She was honest when I asked her what areas she thought botox would be best for me & explained the whole process. I have received botox at other cosmetic centers & this was by far the best experience!
